Low flying aircraft notification

Following a phone call received on Friday 17th February from a representative of Rathlin Energy, please be advised that on Monday 20th February and Tuesday 21st February a low-flying aircraft will be recording geographical data of the area. We are advised that the data is only being used to look for geographical features, not details of individual dwellings or buildings.

AERIAL SURVEY COMMENCING 20TH FEBRUARY 2012

I am writing to inform you of an airborne survey that Rathlin Energy Limited is undertaking in your area on the week commencingMonday 20th February 2012.

The aim of the project is to collect scientific data on natural resources in the north coast region – from Limavady to Moyle. It is anticipated, weather permitting, the survey will be completed during two consecutive days of flying.

The flights will take place during daylight hours and the aircraft will fly according to the regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority, under the ‘Unusual Aerial Activity regulation’.

The information will be gathered by a white twin engine airplane, which will fly at elevations of between 80 and 100m (about six times higher than the average two storey house).

This type of airborne survey is common and it is hoped that the information gathered will help provide understanding of natural resources and inform potential investment plans in the North West.

If you would like to receive more specific timings about the airborne survey in your area or if you have any questions or concernsplease contact our hotline on 028 9034 7319.

Jubilee Celebrations

This year marks Queen Elizabeths Diamond Jubilee. Plans are afoot to make the Jubilee holiday celebrations something special and memorable.

The Giants Causeway Community Association, along with Dunseverick Community Association and Bushmills Community Association will be holding a Festival Day on Monday June 4th, at the Clay Field in Bushmills.

This event is part of what promises to be a great community celebration – the Olympic Torch is passing through Bushmills on Sunday 3rd June and Bushmills is holding a street party on Tuesday 5th June.

Keep yourself up to date with what’s planned and bring any ideas that you may have along to our monthly meeting – we want to make this a day to remember!
